[600MRG] Trees Connected - Disconnected Comparison

Greetings all:

I have been experimenting for a couple of years now in connecting a wire to a tree for reception
purposes.. My current experiment is connecting 4 pine trees together with a strand of wire, and
connecting the end of my 300 foot dipole to those trees.. The results have been interesting to me..
The distance from tree-1 to tree-4 is 65 feet.. The connection point is 10 feet up on Tree-1, and
all 4 of the trees are tapped at 10 feet AGL .. That was just a safe step ladder height , no
special reason for 10 feet high.. Here are links to a couple of pictures I snapped today:

Connecting to the trees somehow enhances my reception to the North-East .. I can not
explain why .. Today I did a Connect - Disconnect comparison and recorded the audio for
anyone who wants to listen to be able to hear what I do .. I used 1090 AM for this reason..
The radio station I work at, is a 1 KW about 40 miles to my South-West .. There is a
10 KW in Kingsport, TN about 100 miles to my North-East .. With my dipole connected to
the pine trees; the 1 KW station to my SW almost disappears, and the 10 KW station to
my NE comes in... When I disconnect from the pine trees, the SW station booms in, and
the NE station almost disappears.. If you wish to listen to the comparison, I think you will
have to download the 2 minute file as I don't think dropbox will allow playing it directly..
The audio starts with the trees connected and the NE station being strongest.. At the
38 second mark; I disconnect the trees from the dipole and the SW station takes over..
At the 1:03 mark, I connect the trees and the NE station is there, then at the 1:37 mark,
I disconnect from the trees and the SW station is back..
Observations here on 630 meters..... with the trees connected, the WSPR stations to the
NE are greatly enhanced ... For the record; both times that I have received DK7FC this season
has been with the trees connected to the dipole .. Reception the the West is still good, and
reception to the North-East is better..

Disclaimer:

I share this for entertaining reading, and informational purposes, based on my empirical observations..
there is nothing scientific about it..

73 to all, and good DX:
