Treat yourself to a latter day FAST antenna changeover that fits in to
tight quarters while using WSPR on 630m...

1. Gets rid of all antenna relays
2. Gets rid of all feed lines
3. Operates full QSK @ QRO
4. Tune loop from inside of the shack

Here is what it looks like:

Out back in the high pines is 600' of high voltage wire ( #14 copper
stranded ) which forms a loop approximately 60'h X 200'l ++
http://www.ebay.com/itm/14-AWG-Monster-Dog-Dog-Fence-Wire-45-mil-LD-Polyethylene-Solid-Copper-2-DBYConn-/251422848815?var=&hash=item3a89f8372f:m:mxTook5CSzmQDgJxgVaqtOg

One HV conductor leaves the shack and is shot up into the closest tree
by a compound bow very easily thence down stream NE/SW...
The same wire returns into the shack via the same wall insulator tube...
Between the two loop wires inside of a rack hooked in series is a 600pf
vacuum variable, a single loop placed at the cold end of a variometer
which tunes 630m and then to the transmitter output ( toroid secondary
), all in series and nailed down that way, no moving parts...

The vacuum variable will tune the loop from about 400-600 khz...
The single turn series loop feeds the cold end of a tuned vario with an
Amrad E-prob placed near the hot end which gives very low noise peaked
RX since none of the series circuit is grounded...
I tried this at sea on a MacKay panel and it was great to have QSK, no
relays clacking and NO chirp, sounded good like the Russians!!
The third series port sees an 'E' frame transformer coming from the
transmitter toroid output...
A check for introduced noise from the idle TX Hexfets find NO NOISE

Placing a decade capacitor box across the vacuum cap terminals tunes the
loop down to 17.2 like this morning by pulling the TX output and
replacing with the SDR-IQ receiver in it's place...
Best reception here of SAQ was this morning with a real quiet RST of 519
@ about -89 peak with noise about -100 ( lotsa HV lines here ) ...

Hope this helps... 73s from Dave WD2XSH/17 * now for a band opening
some day...
