Hi Steve,

 

I don't have a schematic for your transmitter but if by chance there is any
source degeneration (i.e. a small resistor in the source lead) you can look
at the voltage across that to see the current waveform.  You will be seeing
the sum of the drain and gate currents but you should still be able to check
the tuning.

 

If there isn't a resistor you may be able to add one (50 mOhm maybe) without
messing things up too much.
