Gentlemen:
It sounds like everyone had a good time and a lot of QSOs and
reception reports were generated. This sort of thing will help to show the
FCC that there is indeed interest in the new 630-meter band. Thanks for
your participation.
I just barely became reception-capable by putting my LF Engineering
active antenna in the attic of my office. A number of noise sources need
to be eradicated, but I was nonetheless able to hear WG2XIQ and WG2XJM as
well as an unidentified WSPR station. I look forward to improving things
during the winter and getting on the air next spring/summer.
It is also worth noting that we do not yet have the new ham band, so
this is a time to be on our best behavior. Any infractions that I have
heard about are humorous and of no practical consequence. However, things
like unidentified transmissions could be exploited by the power industry to
bolster their arguments that we can't co-exist.
73 and DX,
Fritz Raab, W1FR
Coordinator, WD2XSH
