[600MRG] Last night RX antenna test

Band conditions were poor and activity was low so it is hard to
determine exactly how well the two probes performed. Further testing
will be needed to pin down differences. Due to limited data, no data
analysis charts/graphs will be published.

What was obvious was the difference in noise spectrum between the two
probes. The probe near the house was clearly limited by (weak) noise
sources from the house and shop. Previously noted was the probes
susceptibility to the fluorescent lights in the shop and shack. Even
with all the lights turned off, the house/shop noise dominated.

The probe 200 feet away at the edge of the filed on the other hand
showed (in the Spectran screen) the familiar local spurious signals from
around the neighborhood.

As the sun set, and the band "opened", the field probe captured WSPR
signals earlier than the yard probe did. Later during the evening and
early night, the field probe maintained a definite 3 dB advantage in S/N
on all signals from all directions and distances.

Raw data can be downloaded from WSPRnet as usual. The "yard" probe was
uploaded under the W7IUV call and the "field" probe data was uploaded
under the WH2XGP call.

Larry - W7IUV / WH2XGP
