[600MRG] What a curious night! - Sunday >> Monday

On the surface, sunday night / monday morning looked like it was going to be a real bust - Storms everywhere and the noise was just paralyzing.

But then both Larry XGP and John VE7BDQ make it into the rx log within the first 10 minutes of 1100z...It was definitely getting light here by that point and most of the active weather events were in the Texas panhandle between me and the PNW...  That combination has recently been a deal-breaker.

No reports from KL7 last night however the previous session did not appear to yield any reports early on only to find that Laurence had to upload them manually due to wsprnet.org problems.  I don't suspect that will be the case last night, which is even more interesting.  Rarely have I seen that the path exists to both KL7 AND the lower 48/ Canada PNW area at the same time

Other reports were squarely in the range for the common digital modes but the wide swings in S/N seemed very common, probably making it quite difficult to complete a slow mode QSO.  One of the recent techniques XJM Eric and I have used is QRQ CW at 25-35 wpm allowing us to manuever complete exchanges around noise features.  That has worked really well this summer but I am sorry to report did not figure into last nights results.

Its once again notable that a large number of stations were participating.  Thank you!
