Early last evening the usual signals form WD2XSH/20 and VE7BDQ were
weaker than normal but built up fast. Lots of QSB with variations
between WSPR TX periods of 20 dB or more at times. These unstable
conditions were observed until 10 PM local time when I went to bed.

As usual, I switch the RX phased array from westward looking (for BDQ
and /20 daytime) to eastward. The overnight logs seemed to indicate
unsettled conditions. Some of the usual suspects were present in both MY
TX and RX logs but were in and out.

My Great Circle Bearing to New England is somewhat northward, and
actually passes through the aurora influence zone. This makes for rather
unpredictable propagation between me and stations east of the
Mississippi and north of the Mason-Dixon line.

I have seen this repeatedly on 160 meters over the years and it seems
630 meters is no different. It would be interesting, I think, to run a
lot more power and see if more reports would show better prop detail.

Of course if more stations would run WSPR overnight at least, that would
help.
