Larry & group,
In the fall of 2012 I used YanD software
to decode (AMTOR) Nav-Tex here in
land-locked New Mexico. 518 kHz
Using my 160-M horizontal Loop up 35 Ft, I was
able to decode East & West Coast
USCG transmissions. The limiting factor,
other than propagation was East / West coast
data collisions. My log indicates:
ID Area 4
NMA Miami, NME Charleston, NMG New Orleans,
XMJ Prescott, NMN Portsmouth, XLJ Thunder Bay,
NMR San Juan, VAR Fundy.
ID Area 12
NMC San Fran, VAJ Prince Rupert, XLK Tofino,
NOJ Kodiak, NMO Honolulu, NMQ Cambria,
NMW Astoria, NOJ Kodiak

Here's a link that those of you who live around the coastlines of the
country may find this software usable.
Another point of interest is that the DGNSS (DGPS) system uses the 283
to 325 kc range. I hear a lot of signals in that freq range here so
wonder if they might be related or if they really are power line carrier
related. They sound like PSK type signals.

While not as cold as you folks back east are experiencing, i am not
hearing the beacons this year like in the past. Except for hearing
Ralph last week on CW, other signals are just not penetrating down here
into the desert. And the band is really nice and quiet at night.
