Thanks to Ken, WG2XXM, for the MSK-HELL QSO. This mode worked fine but its very slow and I'm not sure I would use it again. I did learn that the fine tune in the software acts as a contrast control for the output.
I've gone back to WSPR2...

Subject: [600MRG] CQ MSK-HELL, 31 baud, Async, 474.2 @ 1000 Hz for a bit this afternoon de WG2XIQ
Good afternoon -
For the guys within ground wave range of North Central Texas, I am playing with MSK-HELL at 31 baud, ASYNC mode,at the default 1000 Hz carried on 474.2 KHz dial freq.
I have no idea what to expect, if anything at all. The specs say I don't need to be linear, it fits within my band requirements, and it is reported good to -18 db S/N.. I guess we will see.
This is one of the ZL software packages. You can find it at http://www.qsl.net/zl1bpu/HELL/MSK/LF_mskhell.htm
Reports appreciated.
