[600MRG] WG2XJM CW Beacon

 The WG2XJM CW beacon was 579 here in Madison, Wisconsin, at 0310Z.  

Rx is an Icom IC-7200 and the antenna is my active 8 ft whip in the backyard.

Station seemed to leave the air at about 0314Z.

Thanks for advising on the freq.  The rig is on 473.0 kHz USB, made an 
audio recording at what should be 1000 Hz.  The carrier should end up at 
474 kHz.  Audio recording was made with 'cwtext' in Linux. I'd rather 
run keyed CW, but couln't find a ready application to beacon.  Fldigi 
would have been another option, but TX audio from it is not working for 
some reason as yet to be detemermined.  The CW audio file is just 
getting played back from a shell script every 10 seconds.

audio recording is taking the program argument for the audio frequency 
and doubling it!  I re-created the sound file with the correct offset.

Just checked it, and you're on 474 now. Sounds great. 

The digi mode terminal in Spectrum Lab does a nice CW beacon, though you have to 
enter a fraction of a second for dots, rather than wpm.

FWIW.....

No time for QSOs right now (sorry), but WD2XSH/31 CW beacon is always
running on 477.9KHz and QSLs are good via QRZ.com address.

I do plan to have WG2XFQ running Heising Modulation for Fessenden X-Mass Eve
event like in years past on 485.0KHz.  Please spread the word. That's the
time I fire up the Hafler 9505 amp and run the full 20w ERP. hi...hi...
Sure does warm the shack up several degrees.
