Interesting! I did not observe similar conditions here last night but its a
different combination of RX stations at different distances and the storms in
the midwest no doubt hurt the S/N. I guess I would have expected your proximity
to the pole and auroral oval to have had a very different effect when conditions
when the CME's arrived.

cool stuff!

Subject: [600MRG] Interesting Conditions

Very different conditions on 630M last night, possibly due to the two CME
events, the second around 11pm EDT.

N1DYL, about 80 miles due E of me, observed radial strength variations of
10 dB in a short window - I was transmitting WSPR with a 20% TX cycle.

Eric 'XJM, was not operating at the time, but later in the session was
providing +1 reports to WG2XKA.

An interesting time to be operating.

My conditions: 20W to a 48' vertical, heavy rain, soaked foliage nearby.
These operating condx. usually produce much poorer results here.

*WEEKEND CME STRIKES:* Over the weekend, a pair of CMEs hit Earth--one on
May 18th (0100 UT) and another on May 19th (2250 UT). The impacts,
especially the first one, rattled Earth's magnetic field and sparked
Northern Lights visible as far south as Colorado. Some of the brightest
appeared over Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where photographer Chris Cook took
this self-portrait:
