Gentlemen:

630-METER SPECIAL EVENT
November 11, 2017

On November 3, 1906, the Berlin treaty made 500 kHz the International
Distress
Frequency. 630-meter operators will commemorate the Berlin Treaty with a
special event on Saturday night, November 11. Four different groups will
participate:

- U.S. Amateurs,
- U.S. Experimental Operators,
- Canadian Amateurs, and
- Maritime Radio Historical Society.

U.S. amateurs with UTC approval and Canadian amateurs will operate in the
newly authorized 630-meter band (472 - 479 kHz). They will use CW
transmissions and engage in QSOs on 630 meters. Some will offer cross-band
QSOs (160, 80, and 40 meters) for amateurs who cannot operate on 630 meters.

Those U.S. Part-5 Experimental Operators including WD2XSH stations and
others
who don't yet have UTC approval will also operate in the 472 - 479 kHz band
or
just outside of it. There may also be some operation on 500 kHz itself.

The Maritime Radio Historical Society will activate its KSM/KPH transmitter
at
Bolinas, CA for a mini "Night of Nights" with special messages and
bulletins.

Detailed information will be posted on a number of sites as the event
approaches, including:
