After you get all the K3s options installed and preset for your regular operations, Here are the steps to get on to 630 (or 2200) meters.
1. Push & Hold "CONFIG", Rotate VFO "B" to "KXV3" (Of course you must have a KBPF3 installed).
2. Turn VFO "A" to "TEST".
3. Press "FREQ ENT" and enter "0.473" kHz (or what ever frequency you want to go to) , Then press "AFX".
4. Set "Mode" button to 'CW' or 'DATA' *, You can send CW or RTTY.
5. Connect your LF receiver antenna to BNC "XVTR IN".
6. Push "RX ANT", so that it show "RX", so you don't have the "PRE" (Preamp) on.
If the preamp is on you will probably hear lots of BC Band garbage.
7. Connect your LF Amplifier to the "XVTR OUT" BNC.
i am using the KB5NJD/WG2XIQ Amplifier for 630 meters. See:<http://njdtechnologies.net/630-meter-class-de-amplifier/> for 100W out and 1mW input.8. Push & Hold "TUNE" and adjust the K3s "PWR" output for 1mW (or what ever your amplifier needs for drive).9. Make sure "VOX" is 'on'.10. Now if you have some standard message entered into the K3s memory, (See p. 32 in the instruction book), You can push the "M#" button to have it send. The "Message Editor" in the K3s Utility Software makes it easy to program a message.11. Of course you can't operate at this power level until the FCC approves the band for US amateur radio operators.12. But for $60 you can get an experimental license. It is an easy on-line process.See http://500kc.com/ for more details.13. *Note: Long QRSS speeds will have steps in their ARGO traces caused by the K3s TCXO readjusting it self.73Paul wa2xrm
