last night was some improvement over Friday but I'll bet we get much better
nights in the next few months. I worked XJM again and XSH/12 for the first
time. That we can work transcontinental repeatedly under those conditions
is very encouraging. That I could copy XJM, XIQ, XSH/7 and /12 given my
local noise was also very encouraging.

Using a short automated CQ loop with a 40 second break between transmissions
during which I listened and watched the waterfall for replies seemed to work
very well. When the QSB was on the downswing I could still see a trace for
the station calling me even though I could not hear them. All I had to do
was acknowledge I knew someone was calling and then wait for the QSB to
relent to complete the QSO. I'm planning to try that regularly.
