The RadCom review mentions that it will transmit below the broadcast band after a mod, output on the 1 mW exciter output port

Let us know how it tests out in the real world Steve, and not just MF/LF.

Ive been with Kenwood from TS-830, 930, 940, and currently an aging TS-950SD 
which does very well everywhere, even on AM with the expanded audio 
bandwidth and a D-104 (-;

The 990 definitely has my attention.....but can it be modified/programed to 
transmit on those new bands at some milliwatt level to drive an external 
amp?  I just cant get enthused about going the transverter route and add 
another noise generating source.
