John,
Thanks. I did expect that a presentation might need some editing,
but that is faster than starting from scratch. I actually have 1-1/2
hour time slot, but probably need to condense that else I put folks
to sleep! I figured making a brief presentation showing the number
of current players and maybe status of countries activating ham radio
on 600m. Brief discussion on receivers and transmitters and
antennas; common distances covered; modes. Then let the questions
cover the rest.
Particularly many think one needs a 40-acre antenna farm to do LF
(and 600m is lumped in with LF in most minds). I would not have
expected the DX range covered when I started. This a propagation
band at night and during the winter which is "somewhat" like 160m. I
actually started observing the lower BC band as a kid before I
discovered ham radio. Back in the great AM days of the
1950's! Finding the dozen or more active NDB's up here fills the gap
in local stations (only 3 of us which are clustered inside 100mi circle).

QRT-Tx for summer months as ground radials are "rolled up" for lawn
mowing season. Antenna still works fine in Rx.
