I read this on a QRP reflector today. Hope we don't get any more
'testers' on the band if unlicensed people buy these kits :(

Greetings,

Its still a few weeks away but since the program schedule is out for Hamcom 2013
in Plano, Texas on June 7 and 8, I wanted to mention a program that I will be
giving that is applicable to this crowd.

The program, "Practical considerations for implementing and operating a station
on 630-meters" is currently scheduled to be given both on Friday and Saturday at
1pm and 12pm respectively. Schedule is subject to change so you can check the
schedule atwww.hamcom.org as we get closer to the date if you are interested in
attending.

I will be discussing my impressions and recommendations on the band after my
first season of operating as a part 5 station and discuss some of the challenges
I encountered in setting up a station on the band which will be important as we
get closer to having amateur status there. Since even the commercially
available equipment is kit-based and in most cases installations are operating
at QRP levels, it seems to be a good fit for QRP operators.

My program will be available for download if you would like to have access to my
references and links and I can even put it on a thumb drive if you have one with
you.

Finally, I will have 3 transmit downcoverter kits with me that day that are
manufactured and distributed by MF Solutions, a recent startup by fellow part 5
operator John Molnar WA3ETD/WG2XKA. I started using his board a month ago to
replace the design I had used all fall and winter and it has worked flawlessly.
John's kit is $75 and you can save on the shipping by picking one up from me
(Note that I don't make a cent on this - my goal is to populate the band!)
Sales have been through word-of-mouth so far but a flyer has been created with
details and is available on request.

Thanks for the bandwidth and I hope to see you there,

73,

John Langridge, KB5NJD/WG2XIQ

Final note: Hamcom has mispelled both my last name and callsign in the schedule
and biography so FYI if you are looking for info in their published bulletin.
